Matsatsantsa a Pitori then fought back and were rewarded for a much improved second-half performance when Bongani Khumalo popped up at the back post to head in the equaliser.

Pirates then survived a scare to go on and score two goals in the final 10 minutes, courtesy of Thembinkosi Lorch and Ben Motshwari, to secure three points and a first win over SuperSport since 2015.

Speaking after the game Sredojevic admitted that his team needed a little luck to survive the rocky period following SuperSport’s goal.

‘We came out in the second half with the intention of killing off the game,

‘However, we conceded that goal which changed the complexion of the game and later on the opponent came at us and we had the black out, where we conceded the goal and [conceded] the one on one chance, where lady luck followed us,’ added the Serbian tactician.

Micho, however, added that his team deserved their luck because they worked hard for it.

‘We have worked for luck to follow us. Luck follows courageous people and courageous players and our team was [courageous] today,’ concluded Sredojevic.
