Although both sides have impressed on their way to the final, with Matsatsantsa beating both Soweto giants and City edging out league champions Mamelodi Sundowns, City have struggled in the league, while SuperSport have flourished.
Kaitano Tembo’s team have enjoyed a successful start in the Absa Premiership, winning four of their first six games. Benni McCarthy’s team, on the other hand, have only won once in their first six games and that was against SuperSport in the opening game of the campaign.
With league form taken into consideration, many have made SuperSport United the favourites to retain their title this weekend.

Speaking to the media ahead of the clash, Grobler admitted that his team are happy to be considered favourites.
‘The team has done extremely well at the start of the season if you compare to where we were last season.
‘We have started off really well and put in a few good performances and we obviously want to defend our trophy.
‘I think we are happy to go into the final as favourites. I think it is a good thing; it shows the team is doing well, the coach is doing well, and the players are happy again,’ concluded Grobler.
