Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has admitted that he is disappointed by only picking up a draw against Mamelodi Sundowns, saying that his side had more than enough chances to win the game.

The Clever Boys dominated the opening of the first half and had a number of chances to open the scoring. First, Terrence Dzvukamanja struck the post with a header inside the opening two minutes and then Simon Murray also failed to find the back of the net minutes later.

Despite Wits looking more likely to score, it was the defending Absa Premiership champions who hit the front as Gaston Sirino set up Hlompho Kekana, who made no mistake with his finish at the start of the second stanza.

Hunt’s men hit back as Keegan Ritchie netted a sublime free kick minutes after Sundowns took the lead. Despite both teams looking for a winner, they both had to settle for a point.

Speaking after the game to SuperSport TV, Hunt admitted that while he was proud that his side came from a goal down, he believes they should have gotten more out of the game.

‘You don’t often come here and be disappointed with a draw but I think we’re disappointed with a draw. We had two great opportunities in the first 30 seconds, we should have taken them,’ said Hunt.

‘We were on the front foot, we had the foot on the game. We gifted them a goal from real sloppiness from the left-hand side. Then we scored a beautiful goal but we still had opportunities to play that final ball but we didn’t.

‘I’m proud of the players to come back from a 1-0 down against a very good side like this. We have to be proud but I’m disappointed with a draw. Certainly we are.’
