Banyana Banyana striker Thembi Kgatlana walked away with the best player of the tournament award at the 2018 Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
South Africa failed to defeat the defending champions Nigeria, who lifted their ninth continental bit of silverware after securing a 4-3 victory on penalties after a 0-0 draw ensued in the game.
Kgatlana was rewarded for her excellent showing in Ghana, where she not only netted five goals en route to her side losing in the final, but she also won 3 consecutive Woman of the Match awards.

The 22-year old Houston Dash striker got the nod ahead of her peers, with the final vote being decided by the Technical Study Group (TSG) of the tournament.
