Just one day after the departure of Mushin Ertugral, Maritzburg United have named former Orlando Pirates boss Eric Tinkler as their new head coach.
Tinkler has been a free agent since he was shown the revolving door at Chippa United in early December, after what was a short and largely unsuccessful period at the Chilli Boys.
The former Pirates mentor will now have the mammoth task of trying to help guide the Team of Choice away from the bottom of the Absa Premiership table.
He takes over a side who sit with 11 points after 18 matches, and they have only found the back of the net six times all season.
Tinkler replaces another PSL journey man in Ertugral, after the former Ajax Cape Town boss resigned after losing all five of the games under his charge.

Maritzburg, who enjoyed a record 2017-18 campaign under Fadlu Davids, have struggled this season following the departures of some key players such a Lebohang Maboe, who made the switch to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Davids eventually paid the price for the poor start to the season, and after his replacement lasted just five games, the club will be desperate for Tinkler to instil some confidence into the team as they look to fight for their survival.
