The club, which has its playing base at Lord’s, will welcome De Villiers into their T20 side for the tournament, which kicks off four days after the World Cup final at Lord’s.
Middlesex’s first game of their T20 season is at Lord’s against Essex on Thursday, 18 July.
Many Proteas fans are secretly hoping that 35-year-old De Villiers will be on the players’ balcony at Lord’s with the rest of the Proteas side on the 14th with the World Cup, which will put him in great form for the T20 Blast.
De Villiers’ recent great form in T20 cricket will be a huge boost to Middlesex, who propped up their group’s table last season after losing 12 of their 14 group matches.
De Villiers’ big hitting and X-Factor could be just what Middlesex need to enjoy success in what is becoming the most popular (and lucrative) format of the game.
