Bafana Bafana goalkeeper coach Andre Arendse says the technical team have a tough decision to make which goalkeeper will start against Libya on Sunday.

The South African national team are set to take on Libya in their final African Cup of Nations Group E encounter in Sfax.

Stuart Baxter’s men only need a draw or win to go through to the continental tournament in Egypt later this year.

Arendse says he has been very pleased with the response from all three goalkeepers – Ronwen Williams, Darren Keet and Bruce Bvuma – during training.

‘All three keepers are here on merit and they have been exceptional at club level. Bruce is no stranger to the national team, as I have worked with him at the Cosafa Cup tournament, while Ronwen and Darren are key for their respective clubs,’ Arendse told Safa.net.

‘I believe that this is one of the toughest selections we will have to make as a technical team because both Williams and Keet deserve to start, but only one can be given that slot.

He added: ‘We intend on dissecting Libya’s style of play thoroughly to determine which of the two goalkeepers should start on Sunday.

‘We all know our strengths; Ronwen is very good with long-range shots and one-on-one situations; while Darren possesses the advantage in terms of aerial balls. So again, we will focus on all aspects of goalkeeping during our last few sessions and should be able to know for sure who will start by Friday,’ he concluded.

Bafana Bafana will hold their last three training sessions in Tunis, Tunisia, before heading to Sfax where they will conclude their preparations for Sunday’s match.

South Africa will take on Libya on Sunday in Sfax at 7pm.
