Steven Kitshoff could reportedly turn down a deal from the Sale Sharks and extend his stay with the Stormers.
Kitshoff has been linked with a move to Sale, where he would join fellow Springboks in Akker van der Merwe, the three Du Preez brothers – Dan, Jean-Luc and Rob – as well as Faf de Klerk.
However, according to Rapport newspaper, the Western Province Rugby Football Union is working hard behind the scenes to convince Kitshoff to stay in the Cape.
The union has brought in financial assistance from outside the union to try to win the battle for Kitshoff’s signature.
The loosehead prop is also believed to be one of the first-choice Springboks who will receive R2.5-million as part of SA Rugby’s new player contracting model.
The 27-year-old is expected to make a decision on his future next week.
