Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has asked the club’s supporters to come together and provide a ‘united force’ for Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final against TS Galaxy, reports DEAN WORKMAN.

Chiefs and Galaxy will do battle at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening in a game that the Glamour Boys will be desperate to win in order to add some respectability to a tough season, and end their four-year trophy drought.

Chiefs faltered at the end of the Absa Premiership campaign as they finished 9th on the log, a position that a club of Chiefs’ stature is not used to.

After the infamous scenes at the same stadium during Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup semi-final loss to Free State Stars last season, where Chiefs fans turned violent, Middendorp was asked about the effect that the club’s fans could have on the final encounter this year.

‘If somebody really is a Kaizer Chiefs supporter, we need each and every one of them, it has to be a united force,’ said Middendorp at a media open day at Naturena in the buildup to the game.

‘We need them to support us in each and every moment to help and move the cloud here above Naturena, with not winning anything in the last four years, and that is the target.

‘Really make a reset and support the team and support players on Saturday evening and I’m 100% sure they [the supporters] are aware about it [their influence],’ concluded the German coach.
