Absa Premiership newcomers Stellenbosch FC have officially confirmed the signing of former AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates defender Marc van Heerden.
The 31-year-old joins Stellies as a free agent after parting ways with AmaZulu at the end of the 2018-19 season.
Van Heerden made 20 appearances in all competitions for Usuthu last campaign and managed to find the back of the net once for Cavin Johnson’s side.
He is the latest Stellies signing after the club announced the acquisition of Dutch goalkeeper Boy De Jong recently.
The versatile defender now becomes Stellies’ sixth signing after Waseem Isaacs and Zimo Brenner from Ubuntu Cape Town, Dillan Solomons from Royal Eagles, Boy De Jong from Anderlecht in Belgium and Tshireletso Motsogi from Wits University.
‘Welcome to the Stellies Family, Marc. Marc is an experienced PSL defender & set-piece specialist with over 150 PSL starts. Marc joins #StellenboschFC after playing for AmaZulu FC for many years as well as Orlando Pirates and Chippa United,’ the club tweeted.
