Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso has praised the return of Itumeleng Khune, saying that his leadership qualities helps the Amakhosi defenders.
The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper made his return from injury in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over AmaZulu.
The 32-year-old had not featured for the Glamour Boys since December 2018 due to a shoulder injury with Daniel Akpeyi and Bruce Bvuma deputising in his absence.
Although both Bvuma and Akpeyi have performed admirably when called upon, Cardoso has admitted that he’s glad to have his captain back in goals.
‘I’m glad Khune’s back. In the past seasons, he’s always a leader and he helps us out quite a bit at the back,’ said Cardoso.

‘You can see that he takes command, which helps us because he speaks from the back and that’s something we have been missing.
‘No disrespect to Daniel Akpeyi or Bruce Bvuma but he talks more, and we lacked that in the last few games – he comes out, talks and helps us, and I think that’s going to be a big factor this season,’ he concluded.
