The Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced at its annual general meeting on Thursday that the organisation hit a record R1 billion in revenue for the 2018-19 season.
The league has continued to grow in recent years and the record signifies a huge milestone, largely achievable through broadcast partnerships with and sponsorships by the likes of the Absa Premiership, Glad Africa Championship and Multichoice Diski Challenge, including the various cup sponsors.
The news was revealed by league chairman Dr Irvin Khoza after the AGM held at Emperor’s Palace, east of Johannesburg.
‘The PSL cannot be bystanders while the country is going through some difficult times. Today, I appealed to my members to think on how we can all play our role and make a contribution,’ said Khoza on the milestone.
