SuperSport United captain Dean Furman has revealed that he is targeting a return to the United Kingdom at the end of his contract in June, despite reported interest from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The midfielder has been a mainstay in the Matsatsantsa midfield over the past few years and an integral part of their success.

The Bafana Bafana star, though, will be out of contract at the end of the season. Media reports have linked him with a move to cross-town rivals Sundowns, but Furman says he is targeting a return to the UK and hasn’t even spoken to SuperSport’s management let alone Sundowns.

‘My contract is up at the end of the season and the thinking is to go back overseas,’ Furman told the Daily Sun.

‘I haven’t had a talk with SuperSport. But I think they know my position and most likely at the end of the season, I’ll be going back overseas.

‘I’m sure I’ll have a chat with the CEO [Stan Matthews] and the chairperson [Khulu Sibiya], but yes, I’m going back to the United Kingdom.’

Furman grew up in the UK and was formerly on the books of Chelsea’s development structures.

‘There’s no one, in particular, I’m speaking to at the moment. My focus is here at SuperSport until the end of the season,’ he added.

‘We’re in a good position in the league. We just took an MTN8, we’re sitting nicely in the league. So, whatever happens for me next season, my focus is purely at SuperSport until the end of the season.’
