Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has heaped praise on the influential midfielder Themba Zwane following their victory over Tshwane rivals SuperSport United.

The 30-year-old missed the Brazilians’ defeat by Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership last Wednesday due to suspension after picking up his fourth yellow card against Bidvest Wits.

However, Zwane returned to action from his one-match suspension to inspire Sundowns to a 2-1 victory over Matsatsantsa at the Lucas Moripe Stadium over the weekend.

Moismane was delighted to have Zwane back in the starting XI, following his impressive performance against their Tshwane rivals, SuperSport.

‘Whenever Mshishi [Themba Zwane] is around, he plays the music. You know the story,’ Mosimane told his club’s official website.

‘Look at the midfield today. It’s more like we have one man or two more people extra in the midfield because of Mshishi’s movements. Him, Vila [Sibusiso Vilakazi] and [Gaston] Sirino, they combine well. When these ones are on song, you see the Sundowns play.

‘Mshishi is very important to us. We can’t talk about why he didn’t play against Pirates, it’s gone.’

Mamelodi Sundowns will now turn their attention to the Caf Champions League when they take on Petro de Luanda in their next Group C encounter at the Estadio 11 de Novembro on Saturday, with kick-off set for 3pm.
