Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that Zimbabwean midfielder Willard Katsande sustained a knee injury during their win over Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.
The 34-year-old injured himself in the 75th minute against the Buccaneers last Saturday and was subsequently replaced by Anthony Akumu after he left the field.
The Kenya international saw out the rest of the match as Amakhosi went on to secure a narrow 1-0 victory at the FNB Stadium through a 30th-minute strike from Lebogang Manyama.
The club’s physiotherapist, Dave Milner, revealed that they are yet to determine the extent the Zimbabwean midfielder’s knee injury as he is currently in a brace.
‘Katsande is currently in a brace,’ Milner confirmed to his club’s official website.
‘He had a scan and will see the specialist this week to determine the extent of the injury.’
Katsande will now miss their upcoming Absa Premiership clash with AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 8:15pm.
