SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler remains hopeful that he can pip his fellow contenders to win the PSL Golden Boot award at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old is currently joint second on the top-scorers charts alongside AmaZulu’s Bongi Ntuli and Peter Shalulile of Highlands Park on 12 goals apiece.
However, the trio are two goals behind league top-scorer Gabadinho Mhango of Orlando Pirates, who has last scored for the Buccaneers against Chippa United on 2 January.
The SuperSport frontman is relishing the chance to resume football in the country but backs the league decision to suspend all football in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.
‘Look, it’s a difficult time,’ Grobler was quoted as saying on Far Post.
‘Football has taken a back seat as lives are more important, so whether it affects me or not at the end of the day the right decision has been taken to put people’s lives first.
‘It is always nice to play games week in week out, especially when you are in a run of goals.
‘In a winning run. I mean this is the very thing and it was the right decision.’
Grobler admits that there is still a long way to go until the end of the season as he looks to clinch the PSL Golden Boot award.
‘At the end of the day we are all going through the same. It’s not just one player. Everyone will come back with the same mentality. It’s still a long way to go,’ he concluded.
