Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane insists Thursday’s mega clash with Kaizer Chiefs will not be a title decider, hinting he may even be happy with a draw.
The Brazilians got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Monday evening as they cut Chiefs’ lead at the top of the table to just three points ahead of Thursday’s clash.
With a win over Ernst Middendorp’s charges, Downs could go level on points with the table toppers but would remain second on goal difference.
Speaking after the clash with Arrows, Mosimane insisted that the fixture against Chiefs will not decide the title.
‘Funny enough, I don’t think Thursday is a title decider. The way I know this thing [title race], the way I have been in this thing, sometimes the title might be [decided] at the last minute.
‘I always say to you guys [the media] that sometimes you don’t value a point. We might not even win against Chiefs; of course we want to make everything correct, but mathematically the league is not won on Thursday. How many more points do we have [to play for], so we have a chance?
‘You know this thing still has a heartbeat; we have to buckle up. We are all feeling the pressure, we are all feeling the stress.
‘As I say, it’s a long way. The fat lady hasn’t sung and we are still going,’ concluded Mosimane.
