Orlando Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids expects the Soweto giants’ goalscoring troubles to end on Saturday afternoon against SuperSport United because ‘the game always brings a lot of goals’.

The Sea Robbers have struggled in front of goal since the restart, having netted only once in their four league matches.

With their goalscoring issues they have failed to win a single match, most recently losing 1-0 against a 10-man Cape Town City.

Speaking in the buildup, the assistant coach insisted that the club’s staff are doing everything to get the players back to believing in the way they play.

‘We know SuperSport is really strong in terms of their transition play. They really are [an] organised unit, especially in [the] zone two block. But it’s not so much about SuperSport. We know the game brings a lot of goals. It’s about us getting back to ourselves, us getting back to the Pirates way, us getting back to believing in the way we play,’ said Davids, speaking in a Pirates video on the club’s official Twitter account.

‘These players are so talented and sometimes when things are not really going the way as successful as you’d like, you know, they tend to stop believing in their abilities and it’s our jobs … what we’ve done now these past three days is try to and get the players to believe in themselves again, get them to believe in their skills. Some players are good in one-against-one dribbling, some players are good in one-vs-one duels and it is now to believe in that talent, to trust in that talent and go for the win,’ the coach said.
