Chelsea climbed to fourth spot in the Premier League standings following their comfortable 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.
The Blues took the lead in the 31st minute when Olivier Giroud struck the ball home from close range after replacing the injured Tammy Abraham.
Timo Werner then doubled Chelsea’s advantage eight minutes later to end his run of 14 games without a goal in the league.
The victory had Thomas Tuchel’s side go fourth after their fourth straight league win with 42 points, while Newcastle stay 17th on the log with 25 points after 24 matches.
