AmaZulu tasted disappointment in their Caf Champions League preliminary round tie on Friday evening as they lost 1-0 to a 10-man Nyasa Big Bullets side in their first appearance in the competition.

Despite an early penalty no going their way, Ushutu managed to dominate the opening stages but were struggling to find an end product.

Then, in a big blow for Benni MCCarthy’s team, the Bullets broke the deadlock in the 27th minute after a mistake in defence allowed Nickson Nyasulu to fire home the opening goal.

The action continued as moments later Yamikani Fodya was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge just moments after they hit the woodwork.

McCarthy’s men came out in the second half and threw everything at their opponents, but a combination of poor finishing and the woodwork kept them at bay.

Bullets, in the end, walked away with a massive away victory leaving AmaZulu with plenty of work to do in the second leg.
