Cape Town City have confirmed that defender Taariq Fielies has signed a new deal which will keep him with the Citizens until 2025.
The club announced the news on Tuesday morning, with the 29-year-old committing his future to the club after rumours that the big three – Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs – were all interested in signing the defender.
Fielies had in recent months expressed his desire to make the step up to one of the big clubs, but a move never materialised in the past window and he has now been convinced to commit to Eric Tinkler’s team.
The defender has formed an important part of the Citizens this season having played eight matches so far.
