Jake White and the Vodacom Bulls are set to offer Morne Steyn a contract extension despite the veteran Springbok flyhalf contemplating retiring from the game.
A report in Afrikaans publication Rapport suggests White is trying to convince Steyn, 37, to extend his playing career, at least with the Bulls, to beyond June 2022 when his current contract expires.
This follows in the wake of Johan Goosen’s serious knee injury which will keep the 29-year-old sidelined for months.

Steyn is believed to want to end his illustrious Test career on a high and it doesn’t get any higher than repeating the heroics of the 2009 series against the British & Irish Lions by having kicked the series-winning penalty against the famous touring team earlier this year.
Steyn, who was part of South Africa’s Rugby Championship squad but didn’t get any game time, is now likely to be absent when the Bok squad for the November tour of Europe is announced on Tuesday.
