Cricket SA says India’s upcoming tour of South Africa remains on despite the identification of a new Covid-19 variant in the country.
Acting CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki told the Sunday Times that they were in constant communication with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and both organisations remained committed to the tour.
“We as CSA will ensure that we continue to maintain the excellent biosecure environments that we have successfully hosted over the past year, while putting every measure in place to ensure the safety and comfort of both teams,” he added.
India are expected to arrive in South Africa late next week, with the first of three Tests scheduled to start at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on 17 December.
India A are currently involved in a three-match series against South Africa A in Bloemfontein. The second four-day match will begin on Monday.
