SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has revealed that despite recent rumours Kaizer Chiefs have not tabled an offer for midfielder Sipho Mbule and even if they did he is not for sale this season.
The midfielder has struggled to reproduce his best this season with his head seemingly turned by interest before the campaign began and even with him not at his best the rumours linking him with an exit have not quelled.
The fire was stoked by Mbule’s agent, Mike Makaab, who told Gagasi FM that Chiefs were in for the youngster.
It has been reported that Mamelodi Sundowns are also interested but Mbule favours a move to the Glamour Boys.
Matthews, however, has moved to quash any rumours of a deal happening in January as he insists the player is not for sale this season.
“Chiefs have not tabled an offer for him and, even if they did, he is not for sale to any club at all this season,” Matthews told KickOff in an interview.
“I can’t comment on what his agent is quoted as saying.
“I spoke to his agent this morning and the words ‘offer from Chiefs’ never came up.
“You will have to ask him because all I told him was that Sipho is not for sale to any club until he shines again for SuperSport United.
“Let his performances do the talking instead of his agent.”
