Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena rues his sides missed chances during their goalless draw against Al-Merrikh in their Caf Champions League clash on Saturday.
Despite the stalemate at the WE Al-Ahly Stadium in Cairo, Sundowns remain at the top of the Group A standings with four points, while Al-Merrikh, Al Ahly and Al-Hilal are all sitting on one point each.
The Brazilians will now turn their attention to their upcoming Champions League clash against Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly side at the Cairo International Stadium in Cairo.
“I think in the first half we played exceptionally well,” Mokwena told the media after the game.
“We were extremely dominant and created exceptional chances where we had six big, big chances.
“They also created two opportunities from our carelessness on the ball and caught us on the counter-attack.
“To be honest we had control of the match and didn’t feel like we were in too much trouble for most parts of the second half.
“I thought tactically we were also tactically good where they made a couple of changes in the second half.
“When they reinforced the midfield we found it very difficult but there’s no use in crying over spilt milk.
“So not so good in the second half but a performance in the first that we can build on.”
