Kaizer Chiefs picked up their first victory of the season with a 3-0 win over Maritzburg United in their DStv Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night, while in the earlier games Swallows needed a late penalty to beat Cape Town City 3-2.

After a disappointing 1-0 loss in their opener, Chiefs came out firing in their second game as they took the lead with just four minutes into the match as Ashley du Preez was slipped through on goal and made no mistake in beating the keeper.
It was soon 2-0 as calamity at the back saw a poor clearance fall to Keagan Dolly outside the box and the winger made no mistake in finding the empty net with a composed finish. 2-0 to the Glamour Boys with 24 minutes gone.
Maritzburg boss John Maduka made four changes at the break as they looked to shore things up in the second half.
While they managed to improve defensively there was little work for Bruce Bvuma in the Chiefs goal with Ritchie’s dangerous free kick before the hour mark the only save of note.
Chiefs finally settled the fixture in stoppage time as teenager Shabalala fired home after some beautiful play from Kgaogelo Sekgota and Khama Billiat, who set up the youngster.

Swallows 3-2 Cape Town City
A five goal thriller between Swallows and City came before the Chiefs masterclass as the Birds picked up their first win of the season.
Dylan Kerr’s team took early control of the encounter thanks to goals from Tshediso Patjie and Wasseem Isaacs in the opening 25 minutes.
Eric Tinkler’s men fought back and a goal from Darwin Gonzalez 10 minutes before the break and Khanyisa Mayo 10 minutes after the break saw the Citizens draw level heading into the final third of the match.
However, there was late drama as Swallows were awarded a penalty in stoppage time which Siboniso Mtshali dispatched to hand his side the victory.
