Watch as 17-year-old Rico Lewis had a Champions League night to remember after marking his full debut with a stunning goal in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Sevilla on Wednesday evening.
Lewis made his first start for Manchester City while giving first-choice right-back Joao Cancelo a much-need rest.
The 17-year-old wasted no time in making himself known in the game after he netted the equalising goal early in the second half for a memorable debut.
In doing so, Lewis has now eclipsed French international Karim Benzema as the youngest player to score on his first start in the competition.
Speaking on the City youngster, Pep Guardiola said: “He played for a few minutes against Bayern Munich in pre-season and also in the training sessions. We felt he had something special.
“The players didn’t know him before. But you know good players in two minutes. They knew they could rely on him 100%.
“We don’t give presents here. He had to earn it.
“The people love players from the academy but we see him every day. We know he has the quality and I am really happy for him.”
Here is a moment 17-year-old Rico Lewis will never forget ✨
