Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams says his side are taking their two international friendlies “very seriously” as they continue their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next year.
South Africa are set to welcome Mozambique to the Mbombela Stadium for their first international friendly on Thursday, November 17 before taking on Angola at the same venue three days later.
The South African senior national team come into this match on a two-game unbeaten run following their comfortable 4-0 win over Sierra Leone before edging out Botswana 1-0 last month.
The Bafana captain says he feels honoured to be leading the when they come up against neighbours Mozambique and Angola.
“This week we are taking it very seriously, we are hyped and ready to be the difference, especially with March (when the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers resume) not too far away,” Williams told Safa.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm expressed his delight at receiving a call up to the national team.
“To support from the bench or be active on the pitch, there is no time to mess around. We want to win! There is the bigger picture which is always in the back of our minds,” Timm said.
