Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos was pleased with his side’s performance after they came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Mozambique in an international friendly match at the Mbombela Stadium on Thursday evening.
A brace by Bongokuhle Hlongwane was enough to see South Africa walk away with a positive result in Nelspruit.
The win sees South Africa now stretch their winning run to three matches after defeating Sierra Leone and Botswana in their last two matches.
South Africa will now turn their attention to facing Angola in their next international friendly at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
“I have to say that I’m very satisfied, I’m very proud of my team,” Broos told SABC Sports after the game.
“We had I think ten chances, we played good football, the opponents had one chance and we gave the other one in the beginning. Two mistakes from our side but the way they [Bafana] took the game in the hands, they dominated today. I’m very pleased.”
He added, “I just asked the boys to go on, we didn’t play bad [in the first half] certainly not.”
“But we played against an opponent who was very very close to the goal and had a very quick counter [attack], they tried to be dangerous but we controlled it.
“I said to them, ‘just go on, play, let the ball go, don’t run too much with the ball, you can win that game’ and we won.”
