England made a flying start at the World Cup by outclassing Iran, while the Netherlands claimed a comfortable win and Wales fought back to earn a draw against the United States on Monday.

England’s World Cup campaign got off to a great start on Monday in Doha, when Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham led them to a 6-2 win over a weak Iran team.

Saka and Bellingham led England with strong performances that showed why they are two of the game’s most promising young players.

Iran had hoped to beat England, but Bellingham, who was only 19, scored England’s first goal in the first half with a header.

At the Khalifa International Stadium, Gareth Southgate’s team looked great, and Saka and Raheem Sterling’s goals put them in complete control before halftime.

Saka, who is 21 years old, scored again after halftime, and Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish finished the job, even though Mehdi Taremi scored twice for Iran.

WATCH: Senegal 0-2 Netherlands

Cody Gakpo and Davy Klaassen scored late goals to give the Netherlands a 2-0 win over Senegal on Monday. This was the three-time losing finalists’ first game back on the World Cup stage.

At the start of the Group A match in Doha, Senegal’s injured star player Sadio Mane and the Dutch’s best offensive player Memphis Depay meant that the game was likely to end in a scoreless tie.

But with only six minutes left, PSV Eindhoven forward Gakpo got in front of Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and headed in a cross from the left by Frenkie de Jong.

Then, deep into extra time, Klaassen scored after Depay, who had also come off the bench, had been stopped by Mendy. This gave the Dutch team the win.

WATCH: United States 1-1 Wales

Gareth Bale scored a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to help Wales tie 1-1 with the United States on Monday at the World Cup in Qatar.

Tim Weah’s goal in the first half made it look like Wales were going to lose their first World Cup game in 64 years, but captain Bale kept his cool from the penalty spot to give them a very important point.
