Underfire Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler believes his players should need no added motivation for the DStv Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
City are looking for a positive result to turn around their season after slumping to SuperSport United on Tuesday and missing out on an opportunity to climb up the standings.
They are in 11th spot on the table as they reach the halfway point of the season, having won only four of their 14 league games this season and with a success rate of less than 20% in all competitions this term.
“We are obviously expecting a nice big crowd at the stadium, which is an extra motivation for our boys to try and get back to winning ways,” said Tinkler.
“It’s obviously not going to be an easy game. Orlando Pirates are very, very good team with a very, very big squad, and a very talented squad. But I believe in the players that we have, and I believe that we can obviously look to try and turn them over.
“It’s important for us at home, to play in front of our home fans with a lot of confidence and a lot of self-belief and I want to see the players not afraid to go out there and obviously express themselves,” he added.
“When you play against a team like Pirates, the players should be self-motivated. They should raise their game. And hopefully they can do that on the day in order for us to start climbing that league table.”
