Arsenal moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, while Chelsea returned to winning ways following their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Gunners

will be hard to stop if they want to win their first league title since Arsene Wenger’s “Invincibles” in 2003-04. They beat Tottenham for the first time in nine years, which was their first league win away from home in nine years.

Hugo Lloris put Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net, and Martin Odegaard’s long-range shot found the bottom corner. The damage was done by the visitors’ strong first half.

Aaron Ramsdale stopped Harry Kane and Ryan Sessegnon’s shots after halftime to stop Spurs from making their usual comeback when they were down by two goals.

Tottenham are five points behind the top four teams in the league after losing their fourth home game in a row.

Kai Havertz’s second-half header was the game-winner for Chelsea. On the same day, the Blues announced that they were signing Mykhailo Mudryk for a fee that could go up to 100 million euros (£88 million, $108 million).

Chelsea also paid tribute to Gianluca Vialli, a former player and manager who died earlier this month at age 58 from pancreatic cancer. They did this before their first home game since his death.

The action on the field was also overshadowed by the fact that it was announced during the first half that Chelsea had signed Mudryk, bringing their spending in the first season under Todd Boehly’s consortium to more than £400 million.

So far, that investment hasn’t paid off much, but Potter’s injury-plagued team still managed to win its second league game in 10 tries.

In the 64th minute, Hakim Ziyech’s cross from a well-worked corner was headed in by Havertz, who was the tallest player.

Even though Chelsea got a much-needed win, they are still 10 points behind the top four teams because Newcastle kept their hopes of winning the title alive at St. James’ Park.
