AmaZulu have announced that captain Makhehleni Makhaula has joined Orlando Pirates after the two teams reached an agreement on Tuesday.
Makhaula reportedly signed a pre-contract with the Buccaneers at the start of January and will now finally make his move to the Soweto giants ahead of the transfer deadline.
The 33-year-old’s move to Pirates also sees striker Zakhele Lepasa join SuperSport United on loan until the end of the current season.
During his time at Usuthu, Makhaula has made 83 appearances across all competitions and also has previous experience turning out for Free State Stars and Highlands Park, respectively.
“AmaZulu Football Club have reached an agreement with Orlando Pirates for the release of club captain and midfielder, Makhehleni Makhaula which takes effect in the current transfer window.”
“Club President, Sandile Zungu has commended the experienced midfielder’s professionalism since joining Usuthu 2.5 years ago.
“Makhaula leaves with our full blessings. He has served the club very well as captain and was the recipient of the President’s and the player’s player of the year awards two seasons ago with merit,” said Zungu.
