Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile has joined an exclusive club in the PSL after scoring his 100th goal following his brace against CR Belouizdad on Saturday evening.
The Nambian international joined the 100 club in the PSL after he bagged a brace in Sundowns’ commanding 4-1 victory over CR Belouizdad in the quarter-final first leg of the Caf Champions League this weekend.
Shalulile now becomes the seventh player to reach this feat behind Siyabonga Nomvethe, Mabhuti Khenyeza, Daniel Mudau, Tico Tico Bucuane and Collins Mbesuma.
The Sundowns star is also the second player this season to reach this milestone behind SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler.
“Anything that gets to a century, be it age, goals or appearances, is something that needs to be celebrated incredibly. It takes a lot of persistence and consistency. It also takes a level of emotional endurance,” Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena said in a tribute video by the club to mark Shalulile’s latest milestone.
“His character, demeanour and persona has made it a lot easier for us to celebrate Peter. This is congratulations to him on reaching a 100 goals, and here’s to wishing him another 100 before his retirement.”
Sundowns chairman Thopie Motsepe said the club owes much of its recent success to Shalulile’s exploits and professionalism.
“Peter’s more than just a goalscorer. Those goals have helped our club move forward and helped our team achieve many of the milestones we have had over the past three seasons that he’s been with us.
“Players and coaches can really say this is a truly special person,” said Motsepe.
