The preparation and selection camp will give coach Desiree Ellis a chance to see all of the players in the preliminary squad before choosing the final 23-person team that will represent South Africa at the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.
This is Banyana Banyana’s last training camp before the tournament that everyone is looking forward to. The team started the year by winning the Turkish Women’s Cup.
They beat Uzbekistan (3-0) and tied with Slovenia (1-1) to win the title. Then, in April, they went to Serbia, where they lost against the home team. The last friendly game for Ellis’s team will be on July 15, 2023, in Christchurch, New Zealand, when they play Costa Rica.
Banyana Banyana is in Group G with Sweden, Argentina, and Italy. They play their first game of the tournament on July 23, 2023, against Sweden.
