Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane confirmed that he has cancelled his holiday to the USA to preparing for the Caf Champions League.
The 51-year-old was awarded with the Absa Premiership Coach of the Season at the PSL Award after guiding Sundowns to the PSL and the Telkom Knockout title.
The Brazilians returned to the Caf Champions League after AS Vita Club were disqualified from the competition for fielding an ineligible player. Sundowns take on ES Setif in Algeria in the first game of the group stages on June 22.
Mosimane says he had already booked his holidays overseas but is now ready to grab the chance of playing in the Champions League again, reports KickOff.
‘It’s bitter-sweet [returning to work] but it’s okay,’ Mosimane said.
‘We had all arranged to go home because I always encourage my players and say when it’s off season I would love you to enjoy the off-season, I always encourage them to take their families, go away … give yourself and family a decent break and go away.’
The former Bafana Bafana coach insisted that his plan was to travel to New York to watch the Copa America but he believes the chance to play in the Caf Champions League group stage does not come around to often.
This season Mosimane’s men finished their Absa Premiership campaign first on the table with 71, claiming 22 wins, five draws and only suffering three defeats.
