The Buccaneers returned to winning ways in the league after they clinched a narrow 1-0 win over Sekhukhune thanks to a 79th minute goal from Thabiso Monyane at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
The win saw Pirates move up to ninth place on the table with 12 points from nine games, while Sekhukhune dropped down to 13th position with 11 points from 11 matches.
Despite walking away with the win and maximum points, Riveiro bemoaned his side’s missed chances in the game.
“I’m not even thinking of the next one. We have to celebrate tonight because the last days were not easy for us, even though we were convinced that we were playing good football and we’re very close to winning matches. We needed it today,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV.
“It goes without saying (how important was the win), we’re here to win matches, Orlando Pirates is trying to win frequently, to be consistent, to show good performance.
“I think we did the second thing, our performance in the last games were good enough to get the result but not finalising what we created.
“(But) today it was a test for all of us because it’s not easy to come here at home with our supporters and do it at the level we did it in terms of confidence. So I’m just happy that finally they got the result they deserved.”
