Orlando Pirates claimed bragging rights in the original Soweto derby after their 2-0 victory over Moroka Swallows at the Orlando Stadium in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday.
The Buccaneers have now stretched their unbeaten against their oldest rivals to eight league matches after claiming maximum points and bragging rights against their Soweto rivals.
Pirates broke the deadlock in the 39th minute when Vincent Pule played a perfectly weighted pass to Evidence Makgopa, who showed his composure to slot the ball home to make it 1-0.
The home side doubled their lead in the 69th minute when Monnapule Saleng made an instant impact to force Sipho Sibiya to turn the ball into his own net seconds after coming on.
The win takes Pirates up to sixth place on the log with 19 points after 12 games while Swallows dropped down to seventh place with 18 points from 12 matches.
