Bafana Bafana were named as the winner of the Air Cote d’Ivoire Fair Play Award at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
South Africa placed third in the competition after they defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo 6-5 in a penalty shootout to claim the bronze medal.
Bafana began their campaign with a second-place finish in Group E after they conceded a 2-0 defeat to Mali, a commanding 4-0 win over Namibia before playing out to a goalless draw against Tunisia.
Hugo Broos’ men went on to beat Africa’s number one ranked side Morocco 2-0 in the last 16 thanks to goals from Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena.
South Africa went on to claim a 2-1 victory over Cape Verde in a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals before falling short at the semi-final stage against Nigeria.
