Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Keagan Dolly is enjoying every moment after a breakthrough season.
The in-form Mamelodi Sundowns star, who has had a standout season with the newly-crowned Absa Premiership champions, is extremely pleased with his progress, reports the PSL website.
The former Ajax Cape Town midfielder insisted that he has had a busy schedule but admits that he is enjoying his life in football at the moment.
‘I have had a busy schedule this past season but things are going to get even busier. And that is the excitement one gets in this football career of ours and I am enjoying every moment of it,’ Dolly said.
Dolly went on to say that his career took a turn for the better when he received his first South Africa U23 call-up and believes it was the turning point in his career.
‘It all began when I was called up for the U23 and goals started to come; one thing led to the other and all of a sudden my career started to flourish.’
‘From the U23’s, I won my first trophy (the Telkom Challenge) with Sundowns, then the league title, got nominated for three awards during the recently held PSL Annual Awards and now a Bafana Bafana call up,’ he added.
The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder gave special praise to the coaches who played a vital role in his career and inspired him to be where he is today.
‘They have insisted that I maintain a cool head and not to be big-headed. My girlfriend too has been there for me,’ the midfielder said.
‘And on top of that I want to thank the coaches who I have worked with in this short journey, the likes of the late Ted Dumitru, he had a lot of influence on my career, Muhsin Ertugral who taught me to be a complete footballer, Owen da Gama, Shakes Mashaba and of course coach Pitso Mosimane among others.
‘All these have played a huge role to where I am today.’
This season Dolly has scored a total of nine goals and created eight assists in all competitions for Mamelodi Sundowns.
Dolly will be part of the Bafana Bafana squad that takes on Gambia in the Afcon 2017 qualifiers at the Independence Stadium on Saturday.
Kick-off has been set for 20:00.
