Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker is hoping his side can start “playing better” and showing “more quality” ahead of their clash against Cape Town City on Tuesday evening.
The Maroons will come into this fixture after playing out to a 1-1 draw against Chippa United when Craig Martin cancelled out Antonio Van Wyk’s opener at the Danie Craven Stadium this past weekend.
Stellies will now be hoping to bounce back when they take on the Citizens in their next DStv Premiership encounter when the two sides meet at the DHL Stadium this evening.
Stellenbosch currently occupies fifth place on the log with 28 points from 17 games while City come into this match sitting in second place on the table with 31 points from 18 matches.
Barker is hoping his side can build on their performance against the Chilli Boys in the hope of walking away with a positive result against Eric Tinkler’s outfit.
“It wasn’t our best performance and credit must go to the opposition, but there are positives to draw from the match like holding onto our unbeaten record and getting points under difficult circumstances,” Barker told his club’s official website.
“We’re starting to show that resilience and it’s time now from Tuesday onwards, against Cape Town City, that we get back to playing better and with more quality and that we start asking more questions.
“There is a bit of work to be done before that match but it’s a well-earned point for us against Chippa United considering what happened.”
