Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Matias Esquivel is relishing the chance to win silverware with the Brazilians, something he has not achieved in his career.
The Argentinian made the move to South Africa after parting ways with Club Atlético Lanús during the January transfer window.
Esquivel brings a wealth of experience, having previously played for Lanus, where he made 95 appearances, scoring seven goals and registering 12 assists.
He also spent time on loan at CA Talleres, scoring six goals and grabbing four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
Esquivel, who has now featured six times for Sundowns, scoring once and registering one assist, says he is blessed to be at Sundowns as he looks to claim his first piece of silverware in his career.
“The game was a little tough, we couldn’t find spaces they were very close,” Esquivel told Sundowns TV.
“They got a goal from a set-piece, which was the only thing they hurt with because we were in control of the game. We did what the coach asked of us by putting pressure.
“It was a very tough draw, a very tough match. I was a little nervous because the boys told me it was a derby.
“We wanted to win more than anything, I wanted to win because I’m new. I wanted to show that I’m also here. The game was challenging and very nice.
“It’s going to be something beautiful coming to a new team and winning the league title. It would be something new for me as I have never won anything, that’s why I’m happy here.
“I am also very excited because I know that this team is going up, they compete. I am very happy and blessed that they have opened their doors for me.”
