AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin says there has been a lot of improvement in his team after they secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
Usuthu made their way into the quarter-finals after they beat Sekhukhune United 2-0 thanks to goals from Sede Junior Dion and Victor Letsoalo at the Peter Mokaba Stadium last Thursday.
The Durban-based outfit have now been drawn against Orlando Pirates, although the dates for the fixtures are yet to be confirmed by the Premier Soccer League.
Martin can see improvement in his squad and has since revealed that his side has been performing much better than they did last season.
“Last season, AmaZulu were knocked out in the last 16 of this competition against a second division team,” Franco told his club’s official website.
“Today, we faced one of the best teams currently in the PSL, and not only did we emerge victorious, but we also kept a clean sheet and scored two goals.
“However, our defensive display was exceptional, and when we couldn’t defend, Veli Mothwa, our man of the match, came through with some crucial saves.
“We are really happy with the performance of the team, and we need to keep going.
“You need to see things with perspective. Results are something that depend on many things. I’m seeing the improvement of this team; we are competing well, playing good football, and getting better and better throughout the season compared to the previous one.”
