Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro felt his side played a “good game of football” but paid the price for their mistake against Moroka Swallows.

The Buccaneers came from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against Moroka Swallows in the “Original” Soweto derby after Patrick Maswanganyi cancelled out Lindokuhle Mtshali’s opener at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg.

The draw sees Pirates drop down to fourth place in the DStv Premiership standings with 34 points after 22 games, having won nine, drew seven and conceded six defeats so far this season.

The Spaniard was happy with his side’s performance but felt the result did not reflect their performance.

“Difficult game to play, it was really fast. I think we played good football, our mistake punished us in the first-half, the only action where the opponent managed to shoot on target,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the game.

“The game was all for us but we missed the last pass or the last touch in the box, I think we played a good game of football but not a good result.

“I think we started very fast, dominating, with all the control of the game, the opponent struggling to contain us in the central corridor, so it’s easy to see that it was just a question of time that we were going to capitalise.

“But then we conceded one goal and after that we were a little bit in a hurry, trying to score the second before the first one and I think in the second-half we started well, we equalised.”

The Buccaneers will now welcome Golden Arrows in their next league encounter when the two sides meet at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 17:30pm.
