Orlando Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha says it’s a dream come true to have scored his first goal for the Buccaneers in their victory over Royal AM.

Mbatha got his name on the scoresheet in their 4-0 win over Royal AM in their DStv Premiership at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.

The 24-year-old has become a regular in the Buccaneers midfield and has made a total of 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and registering two assists in the process.

Mbatha has since reflected on bagging his first goal for the club and is even more determined to maintain his form and help the club succeed this season.

“It was a great feeling,” Mbatha told his club’s official website.

“It is actually a dream come true scoring my first goal for Orlando Pirates. I must thank the team, the staff and the technical team for the opportunity and support that they give me every day.”

Despite having a number of quality midfielders in the squad, Mbatha has embraced the challenge to fight for his place in the starting line up.

“It’s good competition,” Mbatha added. “It’s a good challenge and helps me stay on my feet and try to improve all the time.

“I cannot afford to make many mistakes. So I think the competition that we have in the team is healthy. We should all just play our game and whoever gets the opportunity must use it.”
