SuperSport United assistant coach Andre Arendse was pleased with his side’s performance in the MTN8, despite being eliminated by Orlando Pirates this past weekend.
The Tshwane giants crashed out of the top-eight competition following a 3-1 defeat to the Buccaneers at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Vincent Pule scored the only goal for Matsatsantsa while Olisa Ndah, Monnapule Saleng, Evidence Makgopa found the back of the net for the Soweto giants.
Arendse was proud of his side and could not fault them on their performance as they had a mixture of new signings, young players mixed within the squad.
“We’ve got a few new faces in the team, never mind the squad and you’ve got to combine that with the youngsters who are trying to get into the team as well, it was always gonna be a big ask for us,” Arendse continued.
“But they never disappointed, none of them disappointed and its nice to see new faces fitting into what we’re trying to do and when you come up against a team like Pirates, on a night like this, it’s the biggest test ever in the PSL and we’re glad we came through, even though the scoreline might suggest [otherwise ] but we’re really glad that the players came through the way they did.
