Orlando Pirates have revealed their player jersey numbers for the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.
There will be some noticeable changes to the playing jersey numbers when the Buccaneers kick off their 2024 CAF Champions League campaign this weekend compared to what you may be used to from the BETWAY Premiership.
The Confederation of African Football states that a maximum of 40 registered players, all wearing the numbers 1 through 40, are permitted for all continental events. In light of this, the Orlando Pirates jersey numbers 10, 13, and 22 that were previously inactive will once more be seen on the pitch during this season’s edition of Africa’s top club championship.
Vincent Pule wore the number 10 jersey in the past. However, Mashonisa’s departure has left the renowned number 10 jersey vacant, and its new owner will take it over.
Tito Maswanganyi, the reigning PSL Player of the Season, who presently wears the number 28 jersey in the league, will don the number 10.
Relebohile Mofokeng, meanwhile, will trade in his number 38 for number 3 in the tournament this year.
Players who typically have jersey numbers higher than 40 on the season roster will also have their numbers changed. During this stage of the competition, these players will wear the numbers that the unregistered squad members have been using.
