Former SuperSport United winger Thabo Mnyamane has officially announced his retirement from football after a decade of playing professional football.
The 32-year-old has been out of action and not played football since the 2021–22 season during his time at Marumo Gallants.
Mnyamane has previously played for the University of Pretoria, SuperSport United and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM)/Marumo Gallants before hanging up his boots.
Over the course of his career, Mnyamane has won three trophies, including two Nedbank Cup titles and the MTN8 trophy, while scoring 42 goals and assisting a further 15 in 195 appearances across all competitions.
He released the following statement on his Instagram page, which reads:
“After careful and thoughtful consideration, I announce my retirement from football.”
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have played this beautiful game. To have lived my childhood dream of becoming a professional footballer. I extend my sincere thanks to all the teams I have played for, from amateur levels to professional stages, and to the coaches who nurtured my talent throughout my career.
“I will always cherish the moments shared with my teammates, the trophies we won, and the long journeys across Africa. A special thank you to the fans for your unwavering support, both on and off the field. Your love has meant the world to me, and I am forever thankful,” he said.
“Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my wife, family, and friends for their constant support and prayers. As I close this chapter, I eagerly anticipate the new adventures that lie ahead.”
