Bafana Bafana forward Lyle Foster has been withdrawn from the squad to face Congo Brazzaville in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old sustained an injury to his knee in their 5-0 win over Congo when he clashed with goalkeeper Christopher Mafoumbi.

As a result, Foster did not travel with the squad to Brazzaville and will jet off to his club to begin his rehabilitation.

Bafana team doctor Tshepo Molobi has since revealed that Foster’s injury is not as severe as they initially thought.

“Fortunately, the nature of the injury does not require surgery. However, time has to be afforded to him for proper rehabilitation and this is why he has been ruled out of the match on Tuesday,” Molobi said.

Bafana Bafana against Congo kicks off at 6pm on Tuesday.
