Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele revealed that he is hoping to remain injury-free for the up and coming 2016-17 Absa Premiership season.
The 29-year-old feels Ntsikelelo Nyauza was at his best when recovered from injury toward the end of last season and therefore making it difficult for him to reclaim his spot in the starting line-up, reports Goal.
‘I had a lot of injuries this season – at the end of last year – but that was a chance for [Ntsikelelo] Nyauza to take my place and he was doing well so I had to start from the bench,’ Jele said.
Jele insisted that he will be working hard to improve his performance heading into the 2016-17 Absa Premiership season.
‘I’m not happy with my season. I think I didn’t do well and there’s room for improvement. So, I’m going to try and work harder next season so that I can be injury-free and try to help the team win something.’ the defender added.
Jele added that he expects the Sea Robbers to do much better in domestic competitions next season, especially as they will not be involved in any Caf inter-club competitions.
